As the summer vacation season begins, it’s worth looking at the Cleveland Browns from a divisional standpoint. Where do the Browns stand in the AFC North? Obviously, they currently sit at the bottom of the division just going by their 2009 record

Everyone loves the underdog, right? Well in the case of the Cleveland Browns, they are and have been the underdogs almost every year since 1999. One playoff game appearance and only two winning seasons in 11 seasons.

In the physical AFC North division, the Cleveland Browns have been a finesse team with very little success. Under second-year coach Eric Mangini, thats changing. Forget all the talk about the Browns switching to the West Coast Offense.  Its not happeningat least not in 2010.

Not much else going on in the NFL world today.

Is was a forgone conclusion that the Cleveland Browns needed to make improvements to an inconsistent defense following the 2009 season. The unit gave up an average of 389.3 yards a game, second to last in the NFL. The secondary couldn’t cover, the linebackers couldn’t tackle, and the defense finished ranked 29th and 28th against the pass and run, respectively.
