CLEVELAND – The Cleveland Browns’ search for their new leader started and ended with Pat Shurmur. On Thursday, Shurmur – a captain on Michigan State’s 1987 Rose Bowl team who went on to become a Spartan assistant – was hired as the Browns’ 13th full-time coach in franchise history. “Pat is a bright, young man who grew up in football and around the coaching profession,” Browns President Mike Holmgren said in a statement.
