Is was a forgone conclusion that the Cleveland Browns needed to make improvements to an inconsistent defense following the 2009 season. The unit gave up an average of 389.3 yards a game, second to last in the NFL. The secondary couldn’t cover, the linebackers couldn’t tackle, and the defense finished ranked 29th and 28th against the pass and run, respectively.

The front office has changed and so have the quarterbacks. A lot of player movement with veterans coming and going.

Cleveland Browns middle linebacker D’Qwell Jackson led the NFL in 2008 with 154 tackles and was seemingly on his way to stardom under Coach Romeo Crennel’s 4-3 defense. Promises were allegedly made by General Manager Phil Savage’s front office regarding a long-term contract.
